Key Highlights

  • ₹5 crore investment by Volvo-Eicher.

  • 10-year training centre at VNR VJIET.

  • Focus on diesel and electric vehicle training.

  • Hiring support with a focus on female engineers.

VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), operating under the Volvo-Eicher brand, has established a Regional Competency Development Centre at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VNR VJIET) in Hyderabad. The company has invested ₹5 crore to develop this facility, which will operate for an initial period of 10 years, with an option for renewal.

Focus on Workforce and Student Training

The newly set-up training centre will serve two key purposes. It will be used to train Eicher employees and dealer personnel from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, it will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students and faculty from the automobile, mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineering departments.

The facility is equipped with three diesel vehicles, one electric vehicle, cut-section models of automotive systems, and diagnostic boards related to automotive and electrical technologies. This setup allows participants to gain practical exposure to real commercial vehicle systems.

Support for Talent Development and Hiring

Sumit Diwan, National Head – Customer Care at VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, said the investment highlights the company’s focus on building strong technical capabilities and creating a long-term talent pipeline. He also shared that VECV plans to recruit students from the automobile engineering department and will actively encourage the participation of female students in its hiring process.

Strengthening Industry-Oriented Education

D. Suresh Babu, President of Vignana Jyothi, stated that the collaboration supports the institute’s goal of delivering industry-focused education. He noted that access to real-world automotive technologies will help students better understand systems currently used in commercial vehicle operations.

Training in Conventional and Electric Mobility Technologies

The centre will address skill requirements across both traditional automotive systems and emerging electric mobility technologies. Students will work alongside industry professionals on actual vehicles and equipment, gaining practical knowledge aligned with current market needs.
