In the final weeks before the gates open for the Char Dham Yatra, the traffic department is preparing to guarantee pilgrims from all over the nation a safe and easy journey. It has issued an alert to eight neighboring states, demanding that their police chiefs ensure that pilgrims do not travel in commercial vehicles, since such vehicles will be seized at the Uttarakhand border.
There will be a ban on playing loud audio systems on Yatra routes, and all vehicles entering Uttarakhand will be required to get a Green Card and a Trip Card before proceeding.
Transport Commissioner Arvind Singh Hyanki also sent an advisory to his counterparts in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
Sunil Sharma, regional transport officer said that such proposals are sent to neighbouring states every year before the yatra begins and that this year's advisories include some new topics.
"In past years, we noticed that various commercial vehicles like trucks, tractor-trolleys carrying pilgrims, arrived from other states for the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkunth Sahib. Authorities in bordering states have been asked to ensure that no such vehicle departs from there for the yatra so that pilgrims do not face complications," the RTO stated.

• Drivers from the plains must have a hill driving endorsement on their licenses.
