Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the government will buy 3,000 electric buses over the next two years. This initiative is part of the government’s plan to reduce pollution in the city.

Government's Commitment to Electric Vehicles

Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s recent decision to waive off registration charges on electric vehicles. He also mentioned that the government is working on incentives to encourage the use of electric autos in the city.

Importance of Electric Buses in the City

Electric buses play a crucial role in reducing urban pollution and improving air quality. With cities facing rising pollution levels due to vehicle emissions, electric buses offer an eco-friendly alternative by producing zero tailpipe emissions. This helps lower the overall carbon footprint, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for residents.

Moreover, electric buses are cost-effective in the long run. While they may require higher initial investment, they have lower operating costs compared to diesel buses, especially when considering fuel savings and reduced maintenance.

By expanding the fleet of electric buses, cities can reduce traffic congestion, promote sustainable mobility, and move towards a greener future. Telangana’s initiative to increase the number of electric buses marks a significant step toward modernizing urban transport.

Free Bus Travel Scheme's Success

Speaking at the ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu’ event organized by the state transport department, the Chief Minister shared that over 115 crore women had used the free bus travel scheme in the past 11 months. This has helped each woman save between ₹5,000 to ₹7,000.

Support for RTC Workers

The CM praised the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) workers, saying their role in the achievement of Telangana state is commendable. He emphasized the importance of respecting the aspirations of RTC and transport workers.

Job Creation in Telangana

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the government has filled 55,000 jobs in just one year, claiming that this is a significant achievement compared to other states.

The free bus travel scheme and support for RTC workers show that the government is making public transport more accessible for everyone. These efforts will help improve the city's transport system and benefit both people and the environment.
