TCPL GES, part of Tata Cummins Private Limited, a collaboration between Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. USA, has started a new factory in Jamshedpur. This new facility will make engines and support the local community with job opportunities. The factory is specialised in the production of hydrogen-powered internal combustion engines for medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
The facility was up and running within a year of signing an MoU with the state of Jharkhand, demonstrating consistent progress toward decarbonisation policies.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, stated, "The opening of this new manufacturing facility represents another milestone in Tata Motors' innovative tradition. The hydrogen-powered engines made here will change how we travel in India, making it cleaner and more advanced. This factory's work will help India move towards smarter and eco-friendly transportation."
Ashwath Ram, Managing Director of Cummins Group in India, reaffirmed Cummins' commitment to providing superior low- to zero-emission technology products. He emphasized their commitment to the Destination Zero plan, which combines global experience and strategic collaborations.
Sustainability is important to Cummins' operations, as outlined in PLANET 2050, the company's long-term environmental policy. The new facility's construction prioritizes environmentally beneficial methods, such as the use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient technologies, and waste reduction measures.

Tata Motors and Cummins have a 30-year cooperation in India through their joint venture, Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL). TCPL GES, a TCPL subsidiary, was established in March 2023 to focus on the design and development of low- and zero-emission propulsion technology solutions for commercial vehicles in India.
These technologies and solutions will be used in a range of applications, and they will play an important part in developing sustainable powertrain solutions that will assist to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance air quality, and support India's net-zero goals.
