Tata Motors has announced that it has secured more than 3,400 electric commercial vehicle (eCV) orders across freight, logistics, and passenger mobility segments. The achievement marks a major milestone in the growing adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India and further strengthens the company’s position as a leader in zero-emission commercial mobility solutions.
The new orders include around 2,000 small commercial vehicles (SCVs) and pick-ups, nearly 900 electric trucks, and about 500 electric buses. These vehicles will be deployed across a wide range of industries and applications, highlighting the increasing acceptance of electric mobility for everyday commercial operations.
The newly secured orders cover several sectors, including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG, FMCD distribution, intra-city transportation, cement, steel, mining, and airport tarmac operations. The electric buses will support both inter-city and intra-city passenger transport services.
The diverse nature of these deployments reflects growing customer confidence in electric commercial vehicles under real-world operating conditions. It also indicates that businesses are moving beyond pilot projects and adopting EVs at scale as part of their regular operations.
Electric mobility in the commercial vehicle sector is rapidly evolving from early adoption to large-scale deployment in India. Tata Motors is playing a key role in this transformation through its extensive electric commercial vehicle portfolio and comprehensive support ecosystem.
The company is working closely with fleet operators and customers to improve vehicle performance, uptime, charging accessibility, and financing solutions throughout the vehicle lifecycle. This approach is helping businesses transition smoothly and confidently to zero-emission transportation while ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
Over the last 12 months, Tata Motors has significantly expanded its electric commercial vehicle lineup with products designed for different duty cycles and operating requirements.
In the small commercial vehicle and pick-up category, models such as the Tata Ace Pro EV, Tata Ace EV, and Tata Intra EV are supporting sustainable last-mile and intra-city deliveries.
For medium and heavy-duty operations, the company has introduced the Tata Ultra EV range in the 7-12 tonne category, along with the Tata Prima EV 55T and Tata Prima EV 28T, which are designed for demanding freight transportation needs.
In the passenger transport segment, the Tata Starbus EV and Ultra EV buses are helping support both city and inter-city mobility requirements.
Tata Motors latest success is backed by years of investment and operational experience in electric mobility. The company currently has more than 3,800 electric buses operating across multiple Indian cities. These buses have collectively covered over 55 crore kilometres, providing valuable insights that help improve vehicle reliability, efficiency, and overall lifecycle performance.
In addition, more than 17,000 Tata electric small commercial vehicles are already operating on Indian roads, demonstrating the growing readiness and effectiveness of electric mobility solutions across different terrains and business applications.
Alongside vehicle development, Tata Motors has built a strong ecosystem to support large-scale EV adoption. The company has partnered with more than 14 charge point operators to expand charging infrastructure and improve accessibility for commercial vehicle operators.
It also offers EV-focused financing solutions through leading banks and NBFCs, while advanced fleet management is supported through Fleet Edge. Comprehensive uptime assurance programmes further help businesses maximize productivity and reduce operational concerns.
These initiatives are making electric commercial mobility a practical, reliable, and commercially viable option for businesses across India.
