Tata Motors Group has inked a deal with the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Key Highlights:

  • Tata Motors commits Rs 9,000 crore to set up a manufacturing hub in Tamil Nadu.
  • Partnership to generate up to 5,000 jobs.
  • Official agreement signed between Tata Motors Group and Tamil Nadu government.

Tata Motors, one of India’s leading manufacturers of both commercial and passenger vehicles, has just inked a deal with the Government of Tamil Nadu. The automotive giant has joined hands with the Minister of Tamil Nadu to set up a state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing plant.

This agreement comes with a significant investment of Rs 9,000 crore over five years. And it's not just about the money; this move is set to roll out around 5,000 job opportunities, both direct and indirect.

Tata Motors Group's official statement announced the signing of a facilitation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government. This marks the first step towards establishing a new manufacturing facility within the state.

In the presence of Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, the MoU was exchanged between V Vishnu, Managing Director & CEO of Guidance, Tamil Nadu's nodal agency for investment promotion, and PB Balaji, Group CFO of Tata Motors. Other key figures including the Minister for Industries, Dr. TRB Rajaa, and senior officials from Tata Motors Group graced the ceremony.

Dr. TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, expressed enthusiasm about Tamil Nadu's growing industry, emphasising its commitment to encourage employment opportunities and boosting its industrial strength.

Guidance Tamil Nadu praised this collaboration as an affirmation of the state's dependability and progressive spirit, especially because it comes in just 65 days after the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024.

This isn't the first big move for Tamil Nadu. Just a month prior, Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast broke ground for its integrated EV plant, marking another milestone in the state's journey towards becoming a business hotspot.
