Tata Motors, India's largest vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a key milestone in intellectual property rights (IPR) development by filing a record-breaking 222 patents and 117 design applications in FY24. This is the greatest number in its history.
These files cover an extensive range of product and process innovations that address crucial automotive megatrends like connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety (CESS).
These patents, which cover a variety of vehicle components such as powertrain, body and trim, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and pollution control. It demonstrate Tata Motors' dedication to engineering excellence and innovation.
In addition to applications, Tata Motors received its highest-ever grant of 333 patents during the same time, bringing its total number of granted patents to more than 850. This achievement demonstrates Tata Motors' commitment to developing cleaner powertrains, new designs, improved connectivity, and intelligent safety systems that address real-world needs.
Tata Motors' research and innovation initiatives, which prioritized consumer well-being and environmental sustainability, resulted in more efficient, greener, and safer vehicles, benefiting end users and driving industry transformation, the company said.
