Tata Hitachi has launched the new ZAXIS 40U mini excavator, branded as “The Mighty Mini”, in India. The new machine strengthens the company’s compact equipment portfolio and is designed for excavation and utility work in confined and restricted spaces.
Developed with advanced Japanese technology, the ZAXIS 40U combines compact dimensions with power, precision and versatility. It also supports multiple attachments, allowing operators to use the machine for a wide range of construction and utility applications while focusing on productivity and optimised operating costs.
Tata Hitachi describes the ZAXIS 40U as a machine built for precision, power and performance. It is engineered to handle demanding jobs where larger construction equipment may not be suitable because of limited working space.
The mini excavator is powered by a 22.0 kW (29.9 PS) gross engine operating at 2,400 rpm. The machine has an operating weight of 3,620 kg to 3,900 kg, depending on the configuration.
Its ISO heaped bucket capacity ranges from 0.04 m³ to 0.12 m³, giving it the flexibility to handle different excavation requirements.

Tata Hitachi has equipped the ZAXIS 40U with several features aimed at making operations more comfortable and safer.
The operator workstation comes with a FOPS and TOPS-compliant canopy, providing protection during machine operation. It also gets a comfortable seat, canopy fan and multifunctional monitor to improve the overall operating experience.
For jobs that continue in low-light conditions, the mini excavator is equipped with LED lights and a roof lamp. An emergency cutoff switch is also included as part of its safety features.
