Rajasthan has banned the use of farm-registered tractor trolleys for commercial transport. Owners must obtain commercial registration to carry business goods. Violators risk vehicle seizure and fines as enforcement intensifies.

In Rajasthan, it was common for farmers to use the same tractor-trolley for both farm work and transporting construction materials like bricks, sand, or stones. Until now, this practice continued without much restriction. However, the transport department has clarified that using a farm-registered trolley for any business activity now requires commercial registration.
If anyone is found transporting commercial goods without proper registration, the vehicle will be seized and a heavy fine will be imposed. This enforcement follows Supreme Court directions aimed at curbing illegal mining and unregulated transport. The court stated that a vehicle's category depends on its actual use, not just its registration documents.
Farmers who use their tractor-trolleys for commercial work must now follow new rules. As soon as a trolley is used commercially, different regulations apply. Owners must register their trolley for commercial use at the local RTO if they transport goods like bricks, stones, or sand for hire.
The Rajasthan transport department plans to increase roadside checks and inspections in the coming days. Complying with the new rules is the safest option for tractor owners to avoid penalties and legal trouble.
Farmers should be aware that using a farm-registered trolley for business purposes is now a legal violation. Timely commercial registration is advised for anyone transporting goods for hire. This change aims to ensure that all vehicles used for business are properly documented and regulated.
These steps are part of broader efforts to control illegal mining and ensure road safety. The Supreme Court's guidance emphasizes that enforcement will focus on how vehicles are actually used, not just their paperwork.
