The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has reached a historic milestone, surpassing Rs 3 lakh crore in benefits for farmers nationwide. The 16th installment, released from Yavatmal, Maharashtra, is a significant achievement under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership.
Since its launch on February 2, 2019, PM-KISAN has been a crucial financial support system for eligible farmer families, providing Rs. 6000/- per year in three installments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheme spent Rs 1.75 lakh crores, offering vital assistance to farmers in need.
The recent Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra campaign added 90 lakh new beneficiaries to PM-KISAN, emphasizing the scheme's inclusivity and commitment to reaching farmers in remote areas.
PM-KISAN's impact has gained recognition from organizations like the World Bank for its efficiency. Continuous digital improvements, including a 24x7 call facility and 'Kisan e-Mitra' voice-based AI chatbot, enhance transparency and assistance for farmers.
PM-KISAN demonstrates successful cooperative federalism, with states handling farmer registrations and verifications while the central government provides 100% funding. The initiative prioritizes inclusivity, benefiting women farmers and over 85% of small and marginal farmers.
As PM-KISAN continues empowering farmers, it reinforces the government's commitment to a productive and sustainable agriculture sector. Each milestone achieved strengthens the backbone of the Indian economy, uplifting those who contribute to the nation's food security.
