IGL and CONCOR sign MoU to set up LNG/LCNG infrastructure at CONCOR's Dadri terminal in Gautam Budh Nagar, UP. The initiative will aim to replace diesel fuel based trucks with LNG powered trucks.

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) signed a MoU to help the freight company switch to cleaner and eco-friendly liquified natural gas (LNG). This will result in cleaner air for Delhi and NCR regions.
IGL is India’s largest city gas network operator and their strategic partnership with CONCOR aims to revolutionise the logistics sector by replacing diesel with LNG.
CONCOR said in the official statement, “CONCOR and IGL have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the possibility of setting up LNG/LCNG infrastructure within the premise of CONCOR terminals. Initially, both LNG and LCNG facilities shall be installed at Dadri (Gautam Budh Nagar) terminal of CONCOR.”
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between both companies indicates the commitment of both companies to reduce carbon emissions and develop a greener and eco-friendly freight movement in India.
The Managing Director of IGL - K K Chatiwal said, “This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our commitment to environmental sustainability. By creating the required LNG infrastructure, we aim to set new benchmarks for eco-friendly transportation in the industry.”
Both companies will jointly set up LNG infrastructure for refuelling heavy commercial vehicles at the Dadri terminal of CONCOR in Gautam Budh, Uttar Pradesh. This will lead to a greener logistics industry and reduced emissions in the country.
Both companies also agreed on exploring the possibility of LNG transportation through railway rakes from LNG terminals near sea ports such as Dahej in Gujarat to other locations in India.
The Chairman & Managing Director of CONCOR - Sanjay Swarup said, "CONCOR is dedicated to embracing innovative solutions that not only enhance operational efficiency but also align with our responsibility towards the environment. The partnership with IGL for LNG truck refuelling is a testament to our commitment to a greener future.”
In 2019, the company had already broached an idea to ICT that includes replacing existing diesel fired engines with LNG-fired engines at various CONCOR terminals.
At that time, discussions revolved around converting the fleet of heavy duty trailers hauling containers between Delhi’s Tughlaqabad inland port and the industrial belt that goes up to Rewari in Haryana. Some financing plans were also discussed that were never implemented.
