Greaves Electric Mobility Serves Over 3 Lakh EV Users Across India

Greaves Electric Mobility’s Aero Vision concept has been chosen as one of the Top 50 Designs in the Mobility Design category at the 14th CII Design Excellence Awards 2024. The design takes inspiration from the Arctic Tern bird, Indian space tech, science fiction, and traditional Indian buildings. It is made to offer a sustainable and budget-friendly electric three-wheeler. The concept follows the ‘Designed in India’ idea and focuses on meeting the changing needs of electric transport.

Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), part of Greaves Cotton Limited, works in the electric vehicle segment in India. With over 16 years of experience, the company creates EV solutions that are easy to access and good for the environment. To support local manufacturing and supply, Greaves Electric Mobility set up a 35-acre EV factory in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. This plant started working in 2021 and can produce 1.2 lakh vehicles each year. It also has space for future growth. Many of the workers at this facility are women.

Greaves Electric Mobility is working to boost EV use in India through its network of manufacturing, retail, and financing services. The company is also focusing on building new products and better infrastructure to meet the changing needs of the electric vehicle market.

The company sells electric two-wheelers under the 'Ampere' brand and electric three-wheelers through companies like MLR Auto and Bestway Agencies. The two-wheelers are made for both personal and business use, while thethree-wheelers are mainly for last-mile transport of people and goods. So far, more than 3 lakh people in India use these vehicles.

Greaves Electric Mobility has launched several models to grow its EV range. One of them is the Ampere Nexus, a high-performance electric scooter made for families. This scooter was also used in a long-distance ride of over 10,000 km from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The company also introduced the Greaves ELTRA City, an electric passenger auto with features like longer range and digital controls.
