Key Highlights:
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has shared its vehicle retail data for February 2025, showing a 1.92% decrease in sales compared to last year. FADA President, Mr. C S Vigneshwar, stated that February 2025 saw a decline across all vehicle categories. The market recorded a 7% YoY drop, with 2W, 3W, PV, Tractor, and CV sales falling by 6%, 2%, 10%, 14.5%, and 8.6%, respectively. Dealers also raised concerns about inventory being pushed without consent, stressing the need for better alignment between wholesale supply and actual demand.
Category-Wise Three-Wheeler Sales Performance in February 2025
Here's a breakdown for each category:
In February 2025, total three-wheeler sales stood at 94,181 units, which is a 12.01% decrease compared to 1,07,033 units in January 2025. When compared to February 2024, when 96,020 units were sold, the sales declined by 1.92% year-on-year.
E-Rickshaw (Passenger)
The sales of E-Rickshaws for passengers in February 2025 were 32,361 units, lower than 38,830 units in January 2025. This represents a 16.66% decline on a month-on-month basis. Compared to February 2024, when 36,548 units were sold, the sales decreased by 11.46% year-on-year.
E-Rickshaw with Cart (Goods)
The sales of E-Rickshaws with carts reached 6,401 units in February 2025, M-O-M sales increased by 11.13%. Compared to February 2024, when only 4,442 units were sold, the Y-O-Y sales increased by 44.10%.
Three-Wheeler (Goods)
In February 2025, the three-wheeler goods segment recorded 10,829 units. This was a 10.03% decrease from 12,036 units in January 2024. There is a decline in sales of 1.82% Year-on-year.
Three-Wheeler (Passenger)
Three-wheeler (passenger) sales were 44,522 units in February 2025, down 11.53% from January 2025 but up 1.34% from February 2024.
Three-Wheeler (Personal)
Three-wheeler (personal) sales were 68 units in February 2025, down 20.00% from January 2025 and the same as February 2024.
Three-Wheeler FADA Sales Report: OEM-wise Sales Analysis
In February 2025, the total three-wheeler sales reached 94,181 units, compared to 96,020 units in February 2024, showing a decline in sales.
OEMs-wise sales performance
Bajaj Auto Ltd. maintained its top position with 34,644 units sold, capturing a 36.78% market share. However, compared to February 2024, when it sold 35,434 units, Bajaj saw a decline in sales.
Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd recorded 6,651 units, holding a 7.06% market share. However, its sales dropped from 8,266 units in February 2024.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited sold 6,501 units, securing a 6.90% market share, showing growth from 5,841 units in February 2024.
YC Electric Vehicle sold 3,372 units, holding a 3.58% market share, an increase from 3,356 units in February 2024.
TVS Motor Company Ltd. improved its sales, reaching 2,431 units and capturing a 2.58% market share, compared to 1,939 units last year.
ATUL AUTO LTD also showed growth with 2,327 units sold, securing a 2.47% market share, rising from 1,968 units in February 2024.
Saera Electric Auto Pvt Ltd recorded 2,075 units, with a 2.20% market share, slightly lower than 2,090 units in February 2024.
Dilli Electric Auto Pvt Ltd reported sales of 1,709 units, holding a 1.81% market share, slightly lower than 1,991 units in February 2024.
OMEGA SEIKI PVT LTD saw an increase in sales, selling 1,106 units, capturing 1.17% market share, up from 498 units in February 2024.
Others including EVs accounted for 33,365 units, holding a 35.43% market share, compared to 34,637 units in February 2024.

CMV360 Says
The automobile market faced a tough month with a drop in sales. However, there was some growth in areas like E-Rickshaws with carts, which is a positive sign. Dealers are concerned about having too much inventory, which could harm their business. Even though the market is slowing down, companies like Bajaj and Mahindra are still doing well.
