Key Highlights:
FADA, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association, has shared the commercial vehicle sales data for February 2025. The commercial vehicle (CV) segment saw a decline of 8.60% year-on-year and 16.76% month-on-month sales.
FADA President, Mr. C S Vigneshwar, shared his views on the Auto Retail performance for February 2025. He said, "February saw a general downturn across all vehicle categories, which we had expected based on our earlier survey predicting a 'Flat to De-growth' trend. The overall market had a 7% YoY decline, with two-wheelers (2W), three-wheelers (3W), passenger vehicles (PV), tractors, and commercial vehicles (CV) dropping by 6%, 2%, 10%, 14.5%, and 8.6% respectively. Dealers also raised concerns about inventory being forced upon them without their consent. While this may serve business goals, it’s important to match wholesale allocations with actual demand to keep dealer operations viable and manage inventory well. In the CV segment, which had a small YTD decline of 0.5%, retail sales dropped by 8.6% YoY. Dealers noted a tough commercial environment, with weak sales in the transportation sector, stricter finance norms, and pricing pressures causing delays in customer decisions—especially for bulk orders and institutional contracts. Although strong bookings in the tipper segment, driven by government spending, brought some relief, the overall negative sentiment and market changes require a more flexible approach."

The commercial vehicle market is facing some problems, with sales going down across different categories.
