FADA Sales Report August 2024: Three-wheeler (3W) sales increased by 1.63% YoY

  • Three-wheeler sales in August 2024 were 1,05,478 units, down 4.54% from July.
  • E-Rickshaw (Passenger) sales dropped 0.23% from July, with 44,346 units sold.

In the latest FADA Retail Sales Report for August 2024, the three wheeler sales report showed mixed results across different categories when compared to July 2024 and August 2023. 

Sales for three-wheelers in August 2024 stood at 1,05,478 units, which is 4.54% lower than July 2024 but up by 1.63% compared to August 2023. Here's a breakdown for each category:

E-Rickshaw (Passenger): With 44,346 units sold, this segment saw a slight dip of 0.23% from July 2024. Compared to August 2023, sales declined by 3.96%.

E-Rickshaw with Cart (Goods): This category saw a significant monthly decline of 15.31%, with 4,392 units sold in August 2024. Despite the drop, sales rose 41.91% compared to August 2023.

Three-Wheeler (Goods): The sales in this segment dropped by 15.13% from July 2024, with 8,646 units sold in August 2024. On a year-on-year basis, sales fell by 10.61%.

Three-Wheeler (Passenger): In this category, 48,005 units sold, which is 5.12% lower than July 2024. However, it experienced a 7.30% growth compared to August 2023.

Three-Wheeler (Personal): Sales for personal three-wheelers reached 89 units in August 2024, showing a slight monthly increase of 7.23%. Year-on-year, sales dropped by 11%.

Three-Wheeler FADA Sales Report: OEM-wise Sales Analysis

In August 2024, the total three-wheeler market recorded sales of 1,05,478 units, reflecting a slight increase from 1,03,782 units in August 2023. Here is OEM-wise Sales Analysis of the market share:

Bajaj Auto Ltd continues to dominate the market with a share of 35.80%, up from 35.00% last year, selling 37,760 units.

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd saw a decrease in market share from 8.04% in August 2023 to 6.99% in August 2024, with sales dropping to 7,378 units.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited also experienced a slight decline, moving from a 5.91% share to 5.44%, with sales of 5,740 units in August 2024.

YC Electric Vehicle maintained a relatively stable position, with a market share of 3.60%, compared to 3.84% the previous year. In August 2024, the company sold 3,794 units.

Saera Electric Auto Pvt Ltd's market share decreased marginally from 2.75% to 2.66%, selling 2,806 units in August 2024.

TVS Motor Company Ltd showed significant growth, increasing its market share from 1.48% to 2.13%, with sales rising to 2,242 units.

Dilli Electric Auto Pvt Ltd sold 2,207 units in August 2024, holding a 2.09% market share. This is down from 2,720 units and a 2.62% market share in August 2023.

Atul Auto Ltd also improved, market share increased from a 1.66% share to 1.99%, selling 2,102 units in August 2024.

Other players, including electric vehicle manufacturers, accounted for 32.43% of the market, slightly up from 31.35% in August 2023.

The FADA Retail Sales Report for August 2024 shows mixed results in the three-wheeler market. While Bajaj Auto leads with steady growth, and TVS Motor saw gains, other segments, like goods carriers, faced sharp declines. Overall, the market remains volatile, with shifts in demand affecting manufacturers differently.
