Exel Composites has published a whitepaper examining the potential applications of pultruded composite materials in the transportation industry. The document highlights the advantages of lightweight, corrosion-resistant materials and the efficiency of continuous manufacturing techniques for composite profiles. 

The whitepaper also features a case study detailing how the Chinese manufacturer Yutong incorporated Exel Composites' fibreglass profiles into buses in Finland.

The whitepaper addresses several challenges faced by transportation manufacturers, such as increased demand for public transport due to rapid urbanisation and the push towards electric vehicles (EVs) driven by environmental concerns.

Fibreglass side panels can be produced up to 1.2 meters wide and 12 meters long, sizes difficult to achieve with aluminium profiles. This production capability simplifies assembly and maintenance, reducing overall costs.

Advanced materials, like as composites, are becoming more accessible and suitable for the needs of bus and coach manufacturers. Continuous manufacturing techniques like as pultrusion enable the large-scale production of high-quality, homogeneous panels and profiles, assisting manufacturers in meeting the increasing demands of public transportation networks.
