ElectroRide, a multi-brand electric vehicle retail network, has teamed with Battery Smart to install battery-switching facilities at 2,500 locations across India over the next five years.
The partnership aims to make electric mobility adoption simple, cost-effective, and efficient by expanding EV swapping infrastructure, which aligns with Battery Smart's goal of providing EV users with zero wait time access to switch stations within a 1 km radius.
The first phase of this collaboration would see Battery Smart install 50 swap stations at ElectroRide locations around Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul Goenka, Director of ElectroRide, stated, "The deployment of 2,500 battery swapping stations demonstrates our vision for a sustainable and accessible electric vehicle infrastructure in India. The planned placement of these stations intends to meet the needs of urban and intercity electric vehicle travelers, promoting a paradigm change toward cleaner and more efficient transportation solutions."
Battery Smart began operations in June 2020 and has rapidly expanded to 1000 stations in 30 cities, accomplishing over 35 million exchanges. Using Battery Smart's Battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, EV users may replace depleted EV batteries with fully charged ones in under 2 minutes.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with ElectroRide as they continue to enhance India's EV infrastructure. With the widespread adoption and acceptance of electric vehicles, it is critical to provide access to battery switching stations. This would allow two and three-wheeler EV consumers to benefit from the ease, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency that battery swapping provides," said Nishant Garg, Senior Director for Expansion at Battery Smart.
In subsequent phases of the project, the network will be rapidly expanded to cover new regions, ensuring extensive accessibility. ElectroRide aims to enhance its last-mile mobility services by rolling out 30,000 vehicles equipped with battery swapping technology to extend their range.
ElectroRide, a Goenka Green subsidiary, is a multi-brand e-mobility product solutions firm that offers a variety of products such as motorcycles, three-wheelers, and green mobility solutions.
The company offers after-sales service and is actively involved in the development and deployment of e-vehicle charging infrastructure around the country. ElectroRide, which already has a strong presence in northern India, aims to expand into South India.
