JBM Electric Vehicles emerged as the biggest winner in May 2026. The company sold 157 electric buses, compared to 62 units in April. This impressive growth of 153.2% helped JBM capture nearly half of the market (49.1%), making it the undisputed leader for the month.
The strong jump suggests successful order execution and large-scale deliveries during May.
Switch Mobility retained its position among the top players despite a slight decline. The company sold 52 units in May compared to 62 units in April, reflecting a 16.1% drop. Even with the decline, Switch secured a healthy 16.3% market share.
After leading the market in April, PMI Electro Mobility experienced a significant slowdown in May. Sales dropped from 111 units to 50 units, representing a 55% decline. The company still maintained a strong presence with a 15.6% market share, placing it third overall.
Olectra Greentech delivered one of the most remarkable performances of the month. The company increased its sales from just 1 unit in April to 46 units in May, adding 45 units and capturing a substantial 14.4% market share.
This surge highlights a strong improvement in deliveries and market activity.
Pinnacle Mobility witnessed a sharp correction after its strong April performance. Sales fell from 52 units to 5 units, resulting in a 90.4% decline. The company accounted for 1.6% of total market sales in May.
Veera Vidhyuth Vahana recorded 4 electric bus sales in May after reporting no sales in April. The company secured a 1.3% market share, marking a positive entry into the monthly sales chart.
Aeroeagle Automobiles faced a major decline in May. Sales dropped from 28 units in April to 3 units, reflecting an 89.3% decrease. The company held a 0.9% market share during the month.
Tata Motors maintained stable performance with 3 electric buses sold in both April and May. While volumes remain modest, the company retained its 0.9% market share without any month-on-month change.
The May 2026 electric bus market presents a mixed picture. While overall industry volumes declined by 8%, the month was largely defined by JBM Electric Vehicles' outstanding growth and Olectra Greentech's strong comeback.
At the same time, several manufacturers, including PMI Electro Mobility, Pinnacle Mobility, and Aeroeagle Automobiles, witnessed notable declines, highlighting the impact of tender-based procurement cycles and bulk order deliveries that often influence monthly electric bus sales.
The data also indicates that market leadership can change quickly depending on fleet deployment schedules and government-backed transportation projects.

May 2026 demonstrates the dynamic nature of India's electric bus market. Although total sales dipped slightly, JBM Electric Vehicles' dominant performance and Olectra Greentech's strong recovery showcase the growing competitiveness of the segment. With government support for public transport electrification and increasing adoption of clean mobility solutions, the long-term outlook remains positive. However, monthly sales are likely to remain volatile due to the project-driven nature of electric bus deployments.
