On the occasion of World Environment Day, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV)has once again showcased its strong commitment to India’s Net Zero vision, aligning with the country’s environmental targets and promoting green mobility solutions through innovation and inclusivity.

Pro Planet Pro Business: Merging Sustainability with Mobility

Eicher’s Pro Planet Pro Business range of Zero Emission trucks and buses is a major step towards combining environmental responsibility, economic efficiency, and social impact. These vehicles are already operational across various Indian states, offering electric, LNG, and CNG fuel options to reduce carbon footprints while serving public and business transport needs.

EV-First Eicher Pro X and Electric Bus Expansion

To strengthen its EV offerings, VECV recently launched the Eicher Pro X Small Truck, a product specifically built for mid and last-mile deliveries. This vehicle not only supports India's EV goals but also empowers businesses aiming to adopt clean mobility.

Eicher electric buses have been in use since 2022, contributing to a greener public transportation system across several Indian cities.

Bhopal Plant: A Symbol of Smart & Sustainable Manufacturing

A highlight in VECV’s green journey is the Bhopal Plant, which began operations in 2020. It is India’s first commercial vehicle manufacturing facility built with Industry 4.0 principles.

Key features include:

  • AI-based real-time energy monitoring systems

  • Advanced ergonomic design for operators

  • Focus on gender diversity with an all-women final assembly line for Eicher Pro X trucks

  • Energy-efficient infrastructure and digital innovation

Strategic Goals for a Greener Future

Managing Director and CEO of VECV, Vinod Aggarwal, stated:
"In line with India’s Net Zero vision defined by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, VECV is committed to delivering future-ready mobility, from electric, LNG, and CNG vehicles to hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. We believe in responsible growth with smart manufacturing and renewable energy solutions.”

Some of the major sustainability goals and achievements include:

  • 70% renewable energy usage in operations by FY 2027

  • Becoming Water Positive by 2030

  • Significant contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 (clean water), 7 (clean energy), 12 (responsible consumption), and 13 (climate action)

  • Developed a 52-million-litre water body at Bhopal plant, capable of running the plant for 4 months

  • Shifted to 100% LED lighting, replacing around 5,000 conventional lights

  • Reduced energy intensity from 3.85 GJ/MINR in FY23 to 3.74 GJ/MINR in FY24
