Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, part of Daimler Truck AG, has appointed Michael Moebius as its new President and Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer. Moebius will take over the position from Muthu Maruthachalam C. With over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Moebius brings a strong background in both passenger and commercial vehicle sectors to his new role.
Moebius’s Career Background
Before this role, Michael Moebius was the Head of Quality Management at Daimler Truck Asia (DTA) in Japan. During his time there, he was responsible for quality assurance across several well-known brands, such as Mitsubishi Fuso, DICV, and PABCO. His work involved overseeing Complete Knocked Down (CKD) assembly sites globally, helping to enhance quality and product reliability.
Achievements in Quality Improvement
While managing quality at DTA, Moebius made notable progress in improving product standards. His tenure saw a reduction in warranty costs, as well as the introduction of innovative systems. One of the key innovations was the ‘Proactive Sensing’ initiative, an advanced data analytics solution designed to detect potential failures early. This approach not only helped streamline internal processes but also led to higher customer satisfaction by boosting product reliability.
A Long Journey with Daimler
Michael Moebius began his career with Daimler in 1990. Over the years, he has held various roles within the organization, contributing to divisions like Mercedes-Benz Cars and Daimler Buses.
His global experience includes regions such as Brazil, Vietnam, Iran, India, and Japan, where he has developed a reputation for setting high standards in both product and process quality. Notably, between 2010 and 2016, Moebius was instrumental in setting up quality benchmarks at DICV, where he fostered a culture of continuous improvement.
Endorsements from Leadership
DICV’s Managing Director & CEO, Satyakam Arya, expressed confidence in Moebius’s appointment, stating, “Michael’s expertise in driving quality, innovation, and operational excellence aligns well with our strategic vision. His leadership is expected to build a more agile, efficient, and competitive supply chain that will help DICV meet market demands more resiliently.”
Moebius’s Vision for the Future
Michael Moebius expressed excitement for his new role, stating, "I’m eager to advance procurement and supply chain strategies through advanced technology, stronger supplier partnerships, and cost efficiency."
