CEAT, a leading tyre manufacturer from India, has achieved a significant milestone as its Chennai plant joins the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network. This achievement makes CEAT the first tyre brand in the world to have two facilities recognized by the network. Its Halol plant was the first to receive this prestigious honor.
The WEF Global Lighthouse Network celebrates manufacturing plants that demonstrate exceptional results by adopting advanced Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies. These include artificial intelligence (AI), the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), robotics, and advanced data analytics.
CEAT’s Chennai plant has leveraged 4IR technologies to drive remarkable improvements. Highlights include:
In a statement, Anant Goenka, Vice Chairman of the RPG Group, praised the use of cutting-edge digital solutions at the Chennai plant. These technologies improved dispatch turnaround by 54% and increased labor productivity by 25%. Furthermore, over 80% of the plant’s workforce now uses digital tools for data-driven decisions and workflow automation.
Jayasankar Kuruppal, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at CEAT, emphasized the role of technology in boosting productivity while staying environmentally conscious. He said the recognition by the WEF highlights CEAT’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing practices.
Being part of the Global Lighthouse Network gives CEAT access to an elite group of manufacturers who share expertise in innovation and sustainability. This milestone reinforces CEAT’s dedication to advancing global manufacturing standards while setting an example for the tyre industry.
