Key Highlights:
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has launched a new range of BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks, now equipped with the advanced 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology. The technology promises smoother, faster gear shifts and improved driving comfort, which will benefit customers in the construction and mining sectors. This new technology, known as 'Torqshift,' is adapted from Mercedes-Benz trucks and has been tested globally.
Bulk Order of 80 Mining Tippers
The company has received a large order of 80 units of its 3532CM mining tippers from a single customer. This reflects the growing demand for BharatBenz's reliable and efficient heavy-duty trucks in India. The delivery of the 3532CM trucks has started, and they are now being put into service.
Improved Productivity and Cost Savings
Sreeram Venkateswaran, President and Chief Business Officer of DICV, highlighted that the new AMT technology will help improve productivity and save costs for customers. The AMT will be included in several BharatBenz models such as the 4032T, 5532TS, 5532T, 2832CM, and the flagship 3532CM. The technology is expected to increase overall fleet efficiency, benefiting customers in the heavy-duty construction and mining sectors.
Key Features of the Torqshift Transmission
The Torqshift transmission offers several features that set it apart from traditional transmissions, including:
Plans to Extend AMT Technology to Tractor Trailers
DICV also plans to extend the 12-speed AMT technology to its tractor trailer models, enhancing road safety and productivity for long-haul logistics customers. The technology is engineered to be well-suited for Indian road conditions, ensuring reduced maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership.
Designed for Heavy-Duty Applications
The lightweight alloy housing and the absence of synchromesh parts contribute to the truck's reliability and reduced maintenance. The Torqshift transmission is ideal for use in construction, mining, and long-distance transportation. With its broad selection of gear ratios and high torque capacity, it can handle vehicles with gross combination weights (GCW) ranging from 28 to 55 tonnes.
