DICV also plans to extend the 12-speed AMT technology to its tractor trailer models, enhancing road safety and productivity for long-haul logistics customers.
The company has received a large order of 80 units of its 3532CM mining tippers.

Key Highlights:

  • Daimler India introduced its BharatBenz trucks with 12-speed AMT technology, known for its global performance.
  • The company received a bulk order of 80 units of the 3532CM mining tippers from one customer.
  • The new AMT technology will boost fleet efficiency, productivity, and cost savings for construction and mining customers.
  • DICV plans to extend AMT to tractor trailers, aiming to improve road safety and long-haul logistics productivity.
  • The Torqshift transmission offers smoother shifting, better comfort, and improved fuel efficiency while reducing maintenance costs.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has launched a new range of BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks, now equipped with the advanced 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology. The technology promises smoother, faster gear shifts and improved driving comfort, which will benefit customers in the construction and mining sectors. This new technology, known as 'Torqshift,' is adapted from Mercedes-Benz trucks and has been tested globally.

Bulk Order of 80 Mining Tippers

The company has received a large order of 80 units of its 3532CM mining tippers from a single customer. This reflects the growing demand for BharatBenz's reliable and efficient heavy-duty trucks in India. The delivery of the 3532CM trucks has started, and they are now being put into service.

Improved Productivity and Cost Savings

Sreeram Venkateswaran, President and Chief Business Officer of DICV, highlighted that the new AMT technology will help improve productivity and save costs for customers. The AMT will be included in several BharatBenz models such as the 4032T, 5532TS, 5532T, 2832CM, and the flagship 3532CM. The technology is expected to increase overall fleet efficiency, benefiting customers in the heavy-duty construction and mining sectors.

Key Features of the Torqshift Transmission

The Torqshift transmission offers several features that set it apart from traditional transmissions, including:

  • Smooth and Fast Shifting: The system enables smoother gear shifts with reduced jerks.
  • Improved Driving Comfort: Its integration into the steering column enhances cabin ergonomics, reducing noise and heat.
  • Greater Fuel Efficiency: The transmission is designed to deliver better fuel efficiency and reduce driving stress.
  • Extended Service Intervals: The system minimizes maintenance needs and enhances the truck's overall reliability.

Plans to Extend AMT Technology to Tractor Trailers

DICV also plans to extend the 12-speed AMT technology to its tractor trailer models, enhancing road safety and productivity for long-haul logistics customers. The technology is engineered to be well-suited for Indian road conditions, ensuring reduced maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership.

Designed for Heavy-Duty Applications

The lightweight alloy housing and the absence of synchromesh parts contribute to the truck's reliability and reduced maintenance. The Torqshift transmission is ideal for use in construction, mining, and long-distance transportation. With its broad selection of gear ratios and high torque capacity, it can handle vehicles with gross combination weights (GCW) ranging from 28 to 55 tonnes.
