BEST is deploying electric double decker AC buses in the Mumbai suburbs area. The bus will be active on route number 415 and will follow Agarkar Chowk to Majas route.
Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), the civic transport and electricity provider public body in Mumbai Maharashtra, is deploying electric double-decker buses on route 415 in the suburbs area. The AC double decker buses will cater to the Andheri East locality.
According to BEST, the bus will run from Kurla depot to Agarkar Chownk on route 332 in the morning. Then the bus will follow the route from Agarkar Chowk to Majas on route number 415 from 7 am to 9 pm. The AC double decker bus will transit between business areas such as SEEPZ, Nelco, Marol etc.
The first double decker electric bus in Mumbai was deployed on route 115 in February this year by BEST. The bus followed the route from CSMT to NCPA in South Mumbai and was met with mixed responses from the public.
Switch Mobility, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, is one of the leading manufacturers of electric buses in India. The first electric double decker bus was also manufactured by Switch Mobility. Switch Mobility Buses are equipped with modern technology batteries that provide powerful performance.

Information about the BEST AC Double Decker Bus
The BEST AC double decker bus is also manufactured by Switch Mobility. The bus has a driving range of 250 km per charge according to the manufacturer Switch Mobility. The battery of the BEST AC bus can be charged fully in 1.5 hours to 3 hours.
The bus also has a seating capacity to house 65 passengers and a driver. Additionally, the bus also has a large space for standing thereby increasing the number of passengers it can carry.
The price of this electric double decker bus is estimated to be INR 2 crore. The starting fare of the bus is INR 6 per 5 km journey. The BEST AC double decker bus is expected to generate INR 75 per km of travel making profits from the first day of deployment.
