Key Highlights:
Ashok Leyland, one of India’s leading commercial vehicle makers, has announced a major expansion plan focused on northern India. The company will open more than 50 new dealerships and service outlets across the region this year.
This move is aimed at strengthening Ashok Leyland’s existing presence, which currently stands at around 300 touchpoints in the northern belt. These new additions are expected to make it easier for customers to access sales and after-sales support in key urban and rural locations.
Focus on Growing Demand
The company said its decision to expand was driven by strong economic growth and ongoing infrastructure development in the region. Northern India remains the largest commercial vehicle market in the country, contributing over one-third of the industry’s total volume.
In the last three years, Ashok Leyland has steadily increased its market share in northern India by 6.5 percentage points. The company sees this region as a key area for further business growth, especially with the increasing demand for freight vehicles.
Delhi is a Key Market
Delhi continues to be a major business hub for Ashok Leyland’s Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV). The capital’s rapid development and transportation needs are pushing demand for more reliable and efficient trucks and buses.
Sanjeev Kumar, President of M&HCV at Ashok Leyland, said, “Our growth has been powered by our focus on customer satisfaction and low ownership costs. We are committed to serving this region better by growing our network and forming strong partnerships.”
Strengthening Support Network
With this expansion, Ashok Leyland aims to improve accessibility and ensure faster service turnaround for its customers. The company wants to be closer to transporters and logistics players by offering quicker vehicle delivery and improved maintenance support.
The new dealerships will also showcase Ashok Leyland’s latest commercial vehicle models, which include updated technologies for performance, safety, and fuel efficiency.
Looking Ahead
Ashok Leyland’s network expansion in northern India is part of its long-term strategy to stay competitive and meet rising transport demands. The company is betting on its strong product range and deeper service presence to drive growth in a market that continues to evolve with the country’s infrastructure. By investing in touch points and customer service, Ashok Leyland hopes to become the preferred brand for fleet operators and small business owners alike across northern India.
