Twin-fuel technology with CNG + petrol flexibility.
Lower running cost with reduced emissions.
Payload up to 1,410 kg for better earning potential.
Driving range up to 500 km.
Starting price from ₹8.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
In a major move to strengthen its light commercial vehicle lineup, Ashok Leyland has introduced twin-fuel variants of its popular Dost and Dost+ XL. These new models are designed to offer better fuel flexibility, improved range, and lower running costs, especially for small businesses and last-mile delivery operators across India.
The newly launched vehicles come with advanced twin-fuel (CNG + petrol) technology. This setup allows operators to primarily use CNG for daily operations, helping reduce fuel expenses and emissions. At the same time, a petrol backup ensures that the vehicle can continue running even in areas where CNG stations are not easily available.
This feature is particularly useful for operators working in urban and semi-urban areas, where fuel availability can sometimes be a challenge.
The twin-fuel Dost range was unveiled in Delhi by Amandeep Singh, President - LCV, IO, Defence & Power Solutions, along with Viplav Shah, Head - LCV Business.
Amandeep Singh highlighted that the introduction of twin-fuel technology is a step toward sustainable and customer-focused innovation. He stated that this solution helps operators balance cost efficiency with operational flexibility while also reducing emissions.
Viplav Shah added that the Dost range already enjoys strong trust among small business owners. According to him, these new variants are designed to improve efficiency and increase earning potential. He also noted that the ability to switch between fuels will benefit logistics operators and last-mile delivery businesses.
The twin-fuel variants are built to deliver strong performance along with practical utility:
Payload capacity: 1,218 kg
CNG tank capacity: 120 litres
Petrol tank capacity: 5 litres (backup use)
Combined driving range: Around 400 km
Ashok Leyland Dost+ XL Twin-Fuel
Payload capacity: 1,410 kg
CNG tank capacity: 148 litres
Petrol tank capacity: Backup support included
Combined driving range: Up to 500 km
These specifications make both vehicles suitable for daily cargo movement, offering a balance of load capacity and fuel efficiency.
Ashok Leyland has priced these vehicles competitively to attract cost-conscious buyers:
Dost Twin-Fuel: Starting at ₹8.20 lakh (ex-showroom)
Dost+ XL Twin-Fuel: Starting at ₹8.75 lakh (ex-showroom)
With this pricing, the company is targeting fleet operators, small businesses, and logistics providers who are looking for economical and reliable transport solutions.
With the launch of twin-fuel Dost and Dost+ XL, Ashok Leyland aims to strengthen its presence in the LCV segment. The company is combining its proven vehicle platform with modern fuel technology to meet the evolving needs of customers.
The introduction of CNG-petrol flexibility not only supports lower running costs but also helps reduce environmental impact, making these vehicles a practical choice for today’s transport businesses.
As fuel prices continue to fluctuate and demand for efficient logistics grows, twin-fuel technology could become a key factor in improving profitability for operators across India.
The launch of twin-fuel Dost and Dost+ XL by Ashok Leyland marks a practical step towards cost-efficient and flexible mobility for small businesses. With CNG as the primary fuel and petrol as backup, these vehicles ensure uninterrupted operations and lower expenses. Combined with strong payload capacity and competitive pricing, they offer a smart solution for last-mile delivery and urban logistics, helping operators improve both savings and overall earnings.
