To ease the burden of farming, the use of modern agricultural equipment is on the rise. However, small and marginal farmers often find these tools quite expensive and out of their reach. In response, to this the government has introduced the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana 2024, offering subsidies on various agricultural equipment.

Under this scheme, farmers can receive up to 50% subsidy on equipment such as Rotavators, Cultivators, Threshers, Reapers, Seed Cum Fertilizer Drills, and more. By availing of this subsidy, the farmers can purchase modern equipment at nearly half the cost, helping them improve their productivity at an affordable price.

How Much Subsidy is Provided?

The Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme under the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana 2024 ensures subsidies for farmers across different categories. A total fund of ₹200 crore has been set aside to benefit 66,000 farmers.

• SC, ST, Small, Marginal, and Women farmers: Eligible for up to 50% subsidy on equipment costs, based on the tractor’s BHP.
• Other categories of farmers: Eligible for up to 40% subsidy.

Eligible Equipment for Subsidy

Farmers will be able to receive subsidies on popular, tractor-driven equipment, including:

• Rotavators
• Threshers
• Reapers
• Seed Cum Fertilizer Drills
• Disc Harrows
• Plows
• Cultivators
• Bund Farmers

To qualify for the subsidy, the equipment must be purchased from a dealer registered with the Agriculture Department. Once purchased, a departmental officer will verify the equipment, and the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the farmer’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Required Documents for Application

To apply for the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana/Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme, farmers must submit the following documents:

• Aadhaar Card or Jan Aadhaar Card
• Jamabandi copy of the farm (not older than six months)
• Caste Certificate (for SC/ST applicants)
• Tractor RC copy (mandatory for tractor-driven equipment)
• Quotation of agricultural equipment

Where to Apply

Farmers in Rajasthan can apply for the subsidy through the Raj Kisan Sathi Portal via E-Mitra. The application deadline is 13 September 2024. For additional details, farmers can contact their district’s Agriculture Department.

• Ensure your bank account is linked with Jan's Aadhaar as the subsidy will be transferred to this account.
• Small and marginal farmers must link their category in Jan Aadhaar before applying.
• Only one application will be accepted per Jan Aadhaar and per financial year.
• The subsidy will only apply to new equipment purchased after approval from the Agriculture Department.
• Farmers can only avail of a subsidy for one type of equipment every three years.
