JOST Werke SE, a global leader in safety-critical systems for commercial vehicles, has officially acquired Hyva, a renowned global manufacturer of hydraulic solutions, in a deal worth USD 398 million. This strategic acquisition is set to boost JOST’s market reach and capabilities, especially in India and other emerging markets.
With this acquisition, JOST aims to expand its footprint in both the On-Highway and Off-Highway commercial vehicle segments. The deal brings Hyva’s strong expertise in hydraulic tipping cylinders, container handling systems, and truck-mounted cranes into JOST’s already comprehensive product range. This combination will enable JOST to better serve markets in Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
Speaking about the acquisition, Pradeep Gorur Sheshagiri, Managing Director of JOST India, said:
“As India’s automotive component sector becomes a vital force in the country’s growth story, this acquisition supports our ‘Make in India’ ambitions. Hyva’s hydraulic solutions allow us to provide products suited for India’s rugged working conditions and enhance our collaboration with local OEMs. It is a major step toward modernizing infrastructure and supporting sustainable mobility in India.”

Hyva is well-known for its strong market presence, holding a 40% market share in hydraulic tipping cylinders. Its addition to JOST’s portfolio enriches product offerings across transportation, construction, agriculture, and mining sectors.
Jeffrey Zuidgeest, Regional Director India, BU Components at Hyva, stated:
“The combination of JOST and Hyva allows us to deliver a wider range of solutions and improved service to our customers. With our strong sales and after-sales network, we’re confident this move will drive significant growth. It’s a win-win for all our stakeholders.”
This acquisition will allow JOST and Hyva to pool their research and development capabilities. The two companies aim to develop automated and digital solutions that meet the growing demands of the commercial vehicle industry. By leveraging their combined strengths, they will be able to respond to evolving customer needs and industry trends more effectively.
The companies are committed to delivering high-quality, regionally tailored solutions while maintaining global standards in manufacturing and service.
For over 70 years, JOST has grown from a small forge into a global company with more than 25 locations worldwide. Strategic acquisitions have played a key role in this growth. Past acquisitions include ROCKINGER (2001), TRIDEC (2008), Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems (2014), Alö (2020), Crenlo do Brasil (2023), and LH Lift (2023).
The Hyva acquisition marks another major step in JOST’s journey, helping the company become a top supplier for both On-Highway and Off-Highway commercial vehicle applications.
The acquisition of Hyva by JOST marks a significant milestone, strengthening JOST’s global presence and accelerating its ‘Make in India’ initiatives. This strategic move enhances product offerings, boosts OEM partnerships, and drives innovation, enabling both companies to deliver advanced, reliable solutions across the commercial vehicle, construction, and agriculture sectors worldwide.
