The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released its construction equipment retail sales report for August 2025. The data indicates a significant year-on-year decline in sales volume across the industry. A total of 3,704 construction equipment units were sold in August 2025, compared to 5,036 units in August 2024, showing a slowdown in retail demand.
This report is compiled in partnership with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and is based on vehicle registration data from 1,391 out of 1,451 RTOs across India. Please note that data from Telangana (TS) has not been included in this analysis.

JCB continued its strong dominance with 2,013 units sold, capturing 54.35% market share, higher than last year’s 47.72%. This shows JCB’s improved hold on the market even as overall industry volumes dropped.
ACE held the second position but recorded a steep decline. With 382 units sold, its share dropped from 13.76% in August 2024 to 10.31% in August 2025, showing falling demand.
Escorts saw a drop in sales, with 236 units sold compared to 348 last year. Its market share slipped slightly to 6.37%.
Ajax Engineering sold 208 units, nearly maintaining its previous share with a slight dip from 5.70% to 5.62%.
This category showed impressive growth, rising from 77 units to 107 units, increasing its market share from 1.53% to 2.89%, making it one of the few growing segments.
Caterpillar sold 98 units, down from 127 last year, but its market share rose slightly from 2.52% to 2.65% due to the overall market contraction.
Tata Motors sold 94 units with a stable share of 2.54%, nearly similar to last year.
Bull Machines sold 84 units and increased its share to 2.27% from 1.81%, showing steady performance.
Schwing Stetter recorded 74 units, slightly down from 85 last year, with a marginally improved market share of 2.00%.
CASE sold only 50 units compared to 96 last year, resulting in a drop in market share to 1.35%.
OEMs with less than 1% market share collectively sold 358 units, down from 707 units, resulting in a sharp fall in combined share to 9.67%.

India’s construction equipment industry saw a major year-on-year drop in retail sales for August 2025, but JCB has strengthened its dominance with more than half of the total market share. While leading OEMs like ACE, Escorts, and CASE struggled, segments like All-Terrain Cranes and Bull Machines showed encouraging growth. The next few months will be crucial as OEMs prepare to launch new products and leverage the government infrastructure push to regain lost ground.
