This year’s erratic monsoon and pest infestations have severely damaged soybean crops in Madhya Pradesh, leaving farmers in distress. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has assured immediate relief and compensation, with every affected field being surveyed.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav recently visited Kariya village in Sailana tehsil of Ratlam district and Khadi village in Polaykalan tehsil of Shajapur district. He interacted with farmers, inspected the damaged soybean crops, and promised that no farmer would be left without support. He emphasized that whether the damage is due to excessive rainfall, drought, or pests, compensation will be provided after proper surveys.
The Chief Minister has directed all district collectors and officials to conduct surveys of damaged crops in every affected field and ensure maximum compensation for farmers. He warned against any negligence in this work.
During his visit, Dr. Yadav also instructed the Shajapur Collector to expedite pending cases of farmers who have not yet received crop insurance payments from previous years. He said the funds should be transferred directly into farmer’s accounts without delay.

Dr. Yadav announced that farmers in Shajapur district will soon benefit from the Narmada-Parvati-Chambal-Kalisindh Link Project. This project will supply water for irrigation, reducing the water crisis and helping improve agricultural productivity in the region.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) as a safety net for farmers. The scheme covers crop losses caused by natural disasters, pest attacks, and untimely rains.
Benefits of PMFBY:
Direct transfer of insurance claims to farmers’ bank accounts.
Only 2% premium on Kharif crops, 1.5% on Rabi crops, and 5% on horticultural crops.
Coverage against all types of natural calamities.
Easy registration through the crop insurance portal or the nearest CSC centre.
The state government has ordered district administrations to submit crop damage reports within a fixed timeframe. Surveys will be conducted using a GPS-based mobile app to ensure accuracy and transparency. This move will ensure that no eligible farmer is deprived of compensation.
