The Namo Drone Didi Scheme is an exciting new program launched by the Central Government to empower women in rural areas. Under this scheme, a total of 1,261 crores has been approved to support women's self-help groups (SHGs) by providing them with drones. This initiative aims to help women become financially independent and create job opportunities in agriculture by training them to fly and maintain drones.

The government will offer a subsidy of 80% on the cost of drones, with a maximum support of Rs. 8 lakh for each self-help group. This means that women can buy drones for agricultural use at a fraction of the price. The scheme plans to provide drones to 14,500 selected SHGs from 2024 to 2026.
The drones will be used mainly in agriculture for services such as spraying liquid pesticides and fertilizers. This will not only make farming more efficient but also help the farmers save time and resources.

Women selected under this scheme will receive pilot training to operate the drones for 15 days. They will also learn how to spray nutrients and pesticides effectively. As a reward for their work, women, known as Drone Didis, will earn a salary of up to 15,000 rupees per month.
