₹200/quintal aid under Price Deficiency Payment Scheme.
Applies to onion sold in APMCs from Apr 1–May 31, 2025.
Max aid ₹50,000 per farmer for up to 250 quintals.
Budget allocation of ₹124.36 crore; 90,000 farmers to benefit.
Applications open on i-Khedut 2.0 from July 1–15, 2025.
The Gujarat government has announced financial assistance of ₹200 per quintal for onion farmers under the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme. This support comes as a relief to farmers impacted by falling market prices due to bumper onion production in the 2024–25 season.
Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel shared that onion cultivation in Gujarat expanded to 93,500 hectares in the 2024–25 season, much higher than usual. This increase resulted in a record production of 248.70 lakh quintals. However, the oversupply caused onion prices in major APMCs (Agricultural Produce Market Committees) to fall below production costs.
To reduce the financial burden on farmers, the state government will provide ₹200 per quintal for onions sold in APMCs between April 1 and May 31, 2025. Each eligible farmer can receive aid for a maximum of 250 quintals, with total assistance capped at ₹50,000 per farmer.
This aid is part of the central government’s Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), which is being implemented in Gujarat through the Price Deficiency Payment mechanism. The Gujarat government has set aside a budget of ₹124.36 crore for the scheme, expected to benefit around 90,000 farmers across the state.
Eligible farmers can apply online through the i-Khedut 2.0 portal between July 1 and July 15, 2025. The scheme will be implemented and monitored by the Directorate of Horticulture under the Department of Agriculture.

The Gujarat government’s ₹200/quintal aid scheme offers crucial support to onion farmers facing price losses due to surplus production. With a budget of ₹124.36 crore and an expected reach of 90,000 farmers, this scheme ensures timely relief through a simple online application process via i-Khedut 2.0.
