In a significant move aimed at supporting the income of farmers across the country, the central government has announced plans to purchase pulse crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Initially focusing on tur (arhar) and lentils, the government aims to procure a total of 6 lakh tonnes of pulses, anticipating a surge in production and farmer’s earnings.
Farmers willing to sell their tur (arhar) and lentil crops at MSP can now register themselves for the scheme. The government has fixed the MSP for tur at Rs 7,000 per quintal and Rs 6,425 per quintal for masoor dal for the year 2024. The purchase will be made at this rate or higher, ensuring fair returns for farmers.

The procurement process will be facilitated through cooperative societies such as NAFED and NCCF. Since January, the government has been actively engaged in procuring pulses at buffer purchase prices, with plans to acquire 4 lakh tonnes of arhar dal and 2 lakh tonnes of lentils from farmers. This initiative aims to provide farmers with better benefits, either at MSP or above market rates.
Farmers from various states including Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand are eligible to register for selling tur and lentil crops directly to the central government. Registration can be done through the online e-Samridhi portal at esamridhi.in. For those unable to register online, assistance is available through CSC or e-Mitra centers.

To register for selling tur (arhar) and lentil crops, farmers will need documents such as an Aadhaar card, mobile number, bank account details, and land information. Payments for crop purchases will be directly transferred to farmer’s accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The online registration process on the e-Samridhi portal is straightforward:
1. Visit the e-Samridhi portal website: (https://esamridhi.in/#/)
2. Choose the "Farmer Registration" option.
3. Enter your mobile number and captcha code.
4. Submit the details.
Following these steps, farmers can successfully register themselves for selling tur and masoor dal through NAFED, ensuring a seamless process for income generation. This initiative signifies a significant step towards supporting farmers and enhancing their livelihoods, aligning with the government's commitment to agricultural welfare and prosperity.
