The state government has decided to remove agricultural equipment that is no longer useful from the subsidy list.
Tractors provided under the Agricultural Machinery Bank must now be marked with "Provided by Agricultural Machinery."
The AgricultureDepartment offers subsidies on 75 types of farming equipment under state and centrally sponsored schemes.
Farmers must purchase at least one additional agricultural machine, such as sowing, plowing, harvesting, or threshing equipment, along with a tractor for subsidy eligibility.
The Bihar State Agriculture Ministerhas reviewed the registration process of agricultural equipment manufacturers and sellers under the Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana. The process will now be made simpler and more transparent. Useful and in-demand equipment will be added to the list of the subsidy, while ineffective machinery will be removed. This step aims to ensure that farmers receive modern and efficient agricultural tools.
Under the SMAM scheme by the Central Government, the Bihar government provides subsidies to small, marginal, and needy farmers. The subsidy details are:
General category farmers: Up to 40% subsidy on mini tractors (18-20 PTO HP)
SC/ST and Extremely Backward Class farmers: Up to 50% subsidy on mini tractors
Farmers can apply for the subsidy when applications are invited. However, eligibility requires that the farmer should not already own a tractor and should not have received a similar subsidy in the last five years.
These changes aim to enhance agricultural productivity by ensuring farmers have access to the latest farming equipment, along with tractors.
