The government is helping farmers buy agricultural equipment at lower prices through the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana. This scheme, known as Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana in some states, offers farmers a subsidy of 40 to 80 percent on various agricultural tools. Recently, a lottery was held to select eligible farmers for this benefit, and equipment is now being distributed to the winners.
A two-day agricultural mechanization fair was held in Saharsa, Bihar, at the Joint Agriculture Building Complex. District officials inaugurated the fair, where information about the Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana was shared. The fair aimed to promote the use of subsidized agricultural equipment among farmers.
This year, the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme is offering subsidies on 108 types of equipment, totaling 2 crore 67 lakh rupees. These include tools for plowing, sowing, weeding, irrigation, harvesting, threshing, and more. The scheme has greatly benefited farmers, and officials encouraged more farmers to apply.
Out of 3897 applicants, 1203 farmers were selected through a lottery to receive subsidies on 75 types of agricultural equipment. At the fair, officials handed over equipment like laser levelers and manual tools to selected farmers, providing subsidies ranging from 40 to 80 percent.
The Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana in Bihar helps farmers purchase agricultural machinery at subsidized rates. Farmers can apply online through the Agriculture Department's website. Selected farmers then buy the equipment from authorized dealers and submit the bill to receive the subsidy.
Farmers can get subsidies on a variety of equipment, including straw reapers, seeders, laser levelers, cultivators, transplanters, threshers, and many more. Small and marginal farmers can also get kits of small tools like sickles and hoes at an 80 percent subsidy.

With a range of 75 to 108 types of tools available, the scheme aims to reduce farming costs and enhance productivity. The recent lottery-based distribution ensures fair selection and access, empowering farmers to adopt advanced mechanization and improve their agricultural practices for better yields and sustainable farming.
