The smooth progress of the RMS 2025-26 season is the result of proactive steps taken by the Department of Food and Public Distribution:
State-specific action plans for organized procurement.
Awareness campaigns to inform farmers about MSP and procurement processes.
Timely registration of farmers on official platforms.
Well-functioning procurement centers are across villages.
Prompt MSP payments, mostly completed within 24 to 48 hours.
Regular field visits and reviews by officials are conducted to address issues and improve efficiency.
To further support procurement and market stability, the government introduced:
Stockholding limits through the wheat stock portal.
Timely relaxations in the FAQ norms (Fair Average Quality) to avoid disruptions.
These strategic moves helped maintain the momentum of procurement and ensured fair prices for farmers.
With more time remaining in the RMS 2025-26 season, the government is confident that the target of 312 LMT will not only be met but may also be exceeded by a significant margin. The consistent efforts and planning have made this year’s wheat procurement a strong success story for Indian agriculture.
