Uttar Pradesh is running a statewide campaign from July 6 to July 11.
Eligible sugarcane farmers can get ₹2 lakh life insurance under PMJJBY.
Farmers will also be informed about PMSBY and Atal Pension Yojana.
Enrollment camps will be organized at all Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committees.
One-stop assistance, including banking support and instant registration, will be available.
Special awareness efforts will target women farmers and self-help groups.
The campaign aims to improve financial security and strengthen the rural economy.
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a major social security campaign to provide financial protection to sugarcane farmers and their families. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a special awareness and enrollment drive will be conducted across the state from July 6 to July 11.
During the campaign, eligible sugarcane farmers will be enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), which offers a ₹2 lakh life insurance cover. The government will also connect farmers with other welfare schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
The state government will conduct a large-scale village-to-village campaign across Uttar Pradesh to spread awareness about social security schemes. Officials, sugarcane supervisors, and committee secretaries will visit villages to inform farmers about the benefits of insurance and pension schemes.
The main aim is to provide affordable financial protection to sugarcane farming families and ensure that they receive support during emergencies such as accidental death, natural death, or old age.
The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) is a low-premium life insurance scheme introduced by the Central Government to provide financial security to families.
Under the scheme:
Eligible members receive a ₹2 lakh life insurance cover.
The nominee receives the insurance amount if the insured person dies due to any reason.
Individuals between 18 and 50 years of age can join the scheme.
Applicants must have a savings bank or post office account.
The premium is automatically deducted from the linked account through the auto-debit facility.
Due to its affordable annual premium, the scheme is especially beneficial for rural and economically weaker families.
Enrollment Camps to Be Held at Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committees
As part of the campaign, awareness and enrollment camps will be organized at all Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committees across Uttar Pradesh.
Farmers visiting these centers will receive complete guidance about PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY. Eligible farmers will also be registered on the spot, making the enrollment process simple and convenient.
The government aims to connect as many sugarcane farmer families as possible with these welfare schemes to improve their social and economic security.
Dedicated help and enrollment centers will be established at every Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee campus during the campaign.
Representatives from banks, IFFCO, sugar mills, and other partner organizations will be available to assist farmers with:
Information about government schemes
Eligibility verification
Document verification
Banking assistance
Instant enrollment
Opening new bank accounts, if required
Completing other necessary formalities
This one-stop support system is expected to make the registration process faster and more convenient.
The campaign will also encourage the participation of women farmers and women's self-help groups (SHGs).
The government plans to connect rural women with insurance, pension, and other social security schemes while promoting financial awareness and participation in financial decision-making. This initiative is expected to strengthen both women's economic empowerment and the financial security of their families.
The Uttar Pradesh government believes that expanding the reach of schemes like PMJJBY will create a stronger financial safety net for sugarcane farmers.
A ₹2 lakh life insurance cover at a low annual premium can provide significant financial support to families during difficult times. By enrolling more eligible farmers under insurance and pension schemes, the government aims to make rural families more secure, empowered, and self-reliant while strengthening the state's rural economy.
The Uttar Pradesh government's special campaign is a major step towards improving the financial security of sugarcane farmers and their families. By providing access to the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and other social security schemes, the state aims to ensure affordable insurance, pension benefits, and financial support during emergencies. The initiative is expected to strengthen rural livelihoods, empower women, and encourage greater social and economic security across villages.
