Tata Motors Rolls Out Electric Buses for Green Urban Transport in Jammu Smart City

Electric buses will be an important addition to Jammu's transportation system, contributing to the city's health, environmental, and economic goals.

The fleet of electric buses in Jammu was inaugurated by Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Tata Motors, India's top commercial vehicle manufacturer, has handed over state-of-the-art Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Jammu Smart City Limited. The delivery was made through TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, a Tata Motors Group company. This green initiative, led by the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, aims to establish an environmentally sustainable public transportation system in Jammu.

Safety, Comfort, and Convenience

The electric buses from Tata Motors, manufactured in India using advanced technology, offer emission-free and silent travel. Prioritising safety, comfort, and convenience, these buses align with Jammu's efforts to provide reliable, zero-emission intra-city commuting solutions.

This delivery is part of a larger order for supplying, maintaining, and operating 100 electric buses in Srinagar and 100 in Jammu over 12 years. The initiative is part of the broader Jammu and Srinagar Smart City projects, emphasizing the transition to sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.

Inauguration by Key Dignitaries

The fleet of electric buses in Jammu was inaugurated by Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The event included dignitaries like MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Gulam Ali Khatana, Ajay Bhalla, and others.

Rahul Yadav, CEO of Jammu Smart City Ltd, emphasized the commitment to improving transportation in Jammu and reducing the carbon footprint, providing safety, sustainability, and convenience for commuters. The goal is to improve mass mobility, safety, and sustainability, contributing to cleaner air and a better quality of life in Jammu. The initiative aligns with Jammu Smart City's dedication to reducing the carbon footprint.

At the inauguration ceremony, Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Chairman of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, emphasized Tata Motors' pioneering role in the electric mobility sector. He highlighted the company's expertise in crafting innovative solutions tailored to India's unique transportation needs.

Mukhopadhyay stated, "Electric buses will be an important addition to Jammu's transportation system, contributing to the city's health, environmental, and economic goals. We look forward to playing a key role in influencing the future of public transportation in Jammu."
