Tata Motors received the first PLI-AUTO certificate in the M3 Category from ARAI for their 12m long Fully Built Bus, TATA STARBUS 4/12 EV, which includes both AC and Non-AC variants. This accreditation validates the vehicle model's compliance.

A motor vehicle designed for transporting passengers in Category M3 has a maximum Gross Vehicle Weight that exceeds 5 tons.'

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) gave Tata Motors the first Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) certificate in the N1 category for four-wheeled cargo vehicles a few months ago. ARAI recognized this important achievement and praised Tata Motors for adhering to MHI's Automotive PLI scheme's prescribed standard operating procedures (SOP).

The PLI scheme aims to enhance efforts in localizing production and boosting exports within the automotive industry. Tata Motors, with this certification, takes a crucial step towards eligibility for the substantial Rs 25,938 crore PLI scheme, having previously secured a domestic value certificate.

The Central Government's recent extension of the PLI scheme for the automotive sector by one year, announced on August 30, means that the originally planned five-year scheme, scheduled from 2022–23 to 2026–27, will now run until 2027–28.

The scheme's incentives apply to specific sales of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products manufactured in India, commencing from April 1, 2022. These products encompass vehicles and related components.
