Tata Motors' Board of Directors approved separating its commercial vehicles business into a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Motors, claimed in the company's most recent annual report that the separation of Tata Motors' commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle operations will empower each business and increase its agility and accountability.

The new subsidiary will be named "TML Commercial Vehicles Limited" or another name approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, according to the company's regulatory filing.

The company's other businesses, such as PV, EV, and JLR, will continue to operate separately.

In his message to shareholders in the company's 79th annual report, Chandrasekaran also pointed out that the demerger is essential for implementing well-differentiated strategies for each business. This move is expected to help each business focus on its strengths and market opportunities.
