Switch Mobility has officially started delivering its EiV12 electric buses to the Department of Transport, Delhi. This marks the beginning of deploying 950 electric buses under the CESL tender, strengthening the capital’s move toward zero-emission public transport.
The first consignment of Switch EiV12 buses was flagged off in New Delhi. The event was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Transport Minister, Dr. Pankaj Singh, Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, MLA Surya Prakash Khatri, and senior officials from the Delhi Transport Department and Switch Mobility.
Other key attendees included Niharika Rai, Commissioner, Department of Transport, Delhi; Prince Dhawan, MD of DTC; Dr. Chadda, Senior Advisor, Hinduja Group; R.G. Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer of Switch Mobility; and Saurabh Chaudhary, CEO of Ohm Global Mobility, the fleet operator.
Manufactured at Switch Mobility’s advanced facility in India, the 12-meter EiV12 bus is built for high-frequency city travel. It comes with:
Seating for up to 39 passengers
Ultra-low-floor design for easy boarding
Wheelchair ramps for differently-abled commuters
CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and GPS tracking
Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS)
Rear-mounted dual-gun charging for faster turnaround
The buses run on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, mounted on the floor for better stability and safety.
Each bus is equipped with Switch iON, the company’s telematics platform. It allows real-time monitoring of vehicle health, efficient fleet management, and smooth integration with Delhi’s transport management systems.
R.G. Venkataraman, CCO of Switch Mobility, said, “The delivery of EiV12 electric buses to Delhi supports the city’s efforts to modernize its public transport network. These buses bring together global engineering standards with local manufacturing, improving reliability, reducing emissions, and enhancing commuter comfort.”
Delhi aims to maintain the largest electric bus fleet in India. With the EiV12 deployment, the city expects a sharp reduction in air pollution and carbon emissions.
Switch Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group and backed by Ashok Leyland’s engineering expertise, has already deployed over 1,250 electric buses globally, covering more than 150 million kilometers. Alongside, the company operates over 1,000 electric light commercial vehicles under its IeV Series.
The company has earned several awards for sustainability, innovation, and customer trust, further strengthening its reputation in the EV sector.
