  • ₹135 crore approved for pulses and oilseed scheme.

  • Around 2.6 lakh farmers to benefit in Rajasthan.

  • Free and subsidised certified seeds will be distributed.

  • 70,000 crop demonstrations to train farmers.

The Rajasthan government has approved ₹135 crore under the National Mission on Edible Oilseeds and Pulses Scheme to support farmers across the state. Through this scheme, around 2.6 lakh farmers are expected to benefit from free and subsidised certified seeds of pulses and oilseed crops.

The state government says the initiative aims to increase farmers’ income, improve crop productivity, and boost the production of pulses and edible oils in Rajasthan. The Agriculture Department has already started preparations, and seed distribution will begin soon.

Farmers to Receive Certified Seeds

Under the scheme, farmers will receive certified seeds of several important crops, including:

  • Moong (mung bean)

  • Urad

  • Arhar

  • Soybean

  • Mustard

  • Sesame

  • Castor

According to Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, some seeds will be distributed free of cost, while others will be provided with heavy subsidies.

The government believes that using certified and high-quality seeds can help farmers achieve better crop quality and higher production. This is expected to improve farm income and strengthen the agriculture sector in the state.

Focus on Pulses and Oilseed Production

Demand for pulses and edible oils has increased steadily in Rajasthan in recent years. Crops such as mustard, soybean, and moong are considered profitable options for farmers and can become an important source of income.

The government also believes that increasing the production of pulses and oilseeds can help India reduce dependence on edible oil imports and support the country’s self-reliance goals.

Officials said the entire cost of the scheme will be covered through the central government’s National Mission on Edible Oils and Pulses programme.

70,000 Crop Demonstrations to Be Organised

As part of the scheme, around 70,000 crop demonstrations will be conducted across Rajasthan. These demonstrations will help farmers learn about:

  • Modern farming techniques

  • Improved seed varieties

  • Seed treatment methods

  • Fertiliser management

  • Irrigation practices

  • Pest control solutions

Agricultural experts say many farmers still depend on traditional seeds and outdated farming methods, which often reduce productivity. Through these demonstrations, farmers will be encouraged to adopt modern agricultural technologies that can lower farming costs and improve yields.

Seed Distribution to Start Soon

The Agriculture Minister said district authorities have been instructed to ensure timely seed availability for farmers. Seed distribution and demonstration programmes are expected to begin shortly.

The Rajasthan government has made increasing pulse and oilseed production a major priority this year. Experts believe that better-quality seeds and modern farming practices can significantly improve agricultural output in the state.

Government Aims to Increase Farmers Income

The Rajasthan government said it is continuously working on farmer welfare and agricultural development through different schemes and support programmes.

Experts believe that if implemented effectively, this initiative can help Rajasthan emerge as a major producer of pulses and oilseeds in the coming years. Higher production may also help farmers get better market prices while strengthening the rural economy and supporting the Self-Reliant India mission.
