In a major relief for farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has released ₹1,460.25 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 crop season. The insurance claim amount has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 10.54 lakh farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The state government said the financial assistance has been provided to farmers whose crops were damaged due to natural calamities, irregular rainfall, and adverse weather conditions, helping them recover from crop losses and maintain their agricultural income.

₹1,460.25 Crore Transferred to 10.54 Lakh Farmers

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav after the cabinet meeting held in Jagdishpur. Through a single click, the Chief Minister transferred the insurance claim amount directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers across the state.

According to the government, the compensation has been released to support farmers affected by weather-related crop damage, including losses caused by unpredictable rainfall and other natural disasters.

The Chief Minister said that both the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments are continuously working to protect farmers incomes. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, farmers welfare remains a top priority and financial assistance will continue to be provided whenever crops are affected by natural disasters.

Farmers Advised to Get Crop Insurance on Time

During the programme, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also urged farmers to insure their notified crops before the last date for the upcoming season.

He noted that meteorologists have predicted the possible impact of El Niño this year, which could result in below-normal rainfall or disruptions in the monsoon. Such weather conditions can significantly affect crop production.

The Chief Minister said that timely enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana ensures financial protection if crops are damaged due to natural calamities or adverse weather. Farmers who complete their insurance process on time will be eligible to receive compensation in case of crop losses.

More Than ₹30,942 Crore Paid Under PMFBY So Far

Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Minister Edal Singh Kansana said that farmers' confidence in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has been steadily increasing in Madhya Pradesh.

He informed that since the implementation of the scheme, more than ₹30,942 crore has been paid as crop insurance claims to farmers in the state. According to the minister, these payments have helped millions of farmers recover from financial losses caused by floods, droughts, hailstorms, and other natural disasters.

He added that the government's objective is to ensure every eligible farmer receives the benefits of the scheme, reducing the financial risks associated with farming.
