Key Highlights:
NueGo, India’s largest intercity electric bus brand under GreenCell Mobility, has become a front-runner in road safety by integrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) into all its over 275 electric buses. This move, initiated right from the company’s launch in 2022, places NueGo ahead of expected government regulations that may soon require such systems in heavy commercial vehicles.
ADAS Technology for Safer Roads
The ADAS technology in NueGo buses includes a range of features designed to support drivers and enhance safety. Using sensors, radar, and cameras, the system constantly assesses surrounding traffic and road conditions. Drivers benefit from multiple safety functions like:
These tools aim to reduce human error, which remains a major factor in road accidents, especially in long-distance travel.
Multiple Safety Measures for Passengers
In addition to ADAS, NueGo has introduced several other passenger safety initiatives. Every driver must pass a breath analyzer test before starting the journey. Buses are equipped with real-time GPS tracking, HD CCTV cameras, and AI-based driver behavior monitoring. For a safer travel experience for women, NueGo offers reserved seating and operates a dedicated women’s helpline. Hygienic and well-maintained rest stops are available during trips. A 24x7 command control center monitors all bus operations in real time, ensuring any issues are addressed promptly.
Each bus in the fleet undergoes 25 detailed safety checks before departure, covering both mechanical and electrical components. The vehicles also offer impressive range capabilities, covering over 250 kilometers on a single charge. The implementation of advanced safety systems aligns with the pressing need for road safety improvements in India. Government data highlights India as one of the countries with the highest number of road accidents worldwide. Commercial vehicles account for a notable share of these incidents, making NueGo’s safety-first approach even more relevant.
Supporting India’s EV Growth
NueGo's expansion is part of a broader movement to modernize and decarbonize public transport in India. Since 2015, the government has actively promoted electric vehicles through subsidies, awareness campaigns, and infrastructure development. These efforts aim to reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels and curb pollution.
GreenCell Mobility’s Larger Mission
As NueGo’s parent company, GreenCell Mobility is focused on building sustainable transport networks across the country. Its electric bus service is among its most visible and impactful projects, especially as demand grows for cleaner and safer travel options.
