Key Highlights:
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has introduced a smart and modern solution for Indian farmers using its electric cargo vehicle, the Mahindra Zor Grand DV electric three-wheeler. A total of 1,261 units of this vehicle have been deployed across India to carry drones used for spraying fertilisers and urea on farmlands. This new approach is helping farmers improve crop health and manage farming more effectively.
Improving Farming Efficiency
The use of drones mounted on the Mahindra Zor Grand DV has made a big difference in farming. Farmers can now spray fertilisers and pesticides more accurately. With drone technology, farmers only use the amount needed, which helps avoid waste. This saves money and reduces extra use of materials. Another benefit is that drones collect data to show how much land they can cover. This helps farmers plan better and make smart decisions for their crops. The battery-powered drones, along with the electric vehicle, also support clean and eco-friendly farming.
Mahindra Zor Grand DV specifications and features
The Zor Grand DV is an electric three-wheeler designed to handle cargo with ease. It offers a real-world range of 90 km per charge, which is useful for daily operations on farmlands or short-distance transport. It is built to carry goods and also special farming tools, which makes it perfect for this new drone-based service.
The vehicle’s design has been specially updated for farming needs. It can carry not just the drone but also extra batteries, generator sets, fertiliser bottles, water cans, diesel cans, and other tools needed for spraying.
A Joint Effort for Farmers
This farming solution is part of a larger project where Mahindra has partnered with IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited) and farmers. The project is being carried out under the Central Government’s NAMO Drone Didi scheme.
About the NAMO Drone Didi Scheme
The NAMO Drone Didi is a government project to support women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with drones for agricultural services. The goal is to supply 15,000 SHGs with drones between 2024 and 2026. These SHGs will offer rent services for drones to local farmers for tasks like spraying liquid fertilisers and pesticides. This will help the farmers while also generating income for the women in these groups. Each SHG is expected to earn at least ₹1 lakh per year through this service.
