Farmers whose names are included in the list will now have to complete Aadhaar authentication. Once the verification process is completed, the approved loan waiver amount will be directly credited to their loan accounts.

The government has stated that the entire process has been made digital and transparent to ensure that eligible farmers receive benefits without unnecessary delays or complications.

Aadhaar Verification Mandatory for Eligible Farmers

According to the state government, the first list has been released as the initial phase of the scheme. Eligible farmers will receive SMS notifications on their registered mobile numbers asking them to complete Aadhaar verification.

Only after Aadhaar authentication and the required verification process is completed will the loan waiver amount be transferred to the respective loan accounts.

Beneficiary List Released After Detailed Verification

To ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the scheme benefits, the Maharashtra government carried out a detailed verification process. Farmers records were matched with data from multiple government departments, including verification through the Income Tax Department.

Only after completing these checks was the first beneficiary list approved and released.

53 Banks Uploaded Farmers Loan Data

For smooth implementation of the scheme, 53 banks uploaded farmers' loan details to a dedicated MahaIT portal. These include:

  • 30 District Central Cooperative Banks

  • 12 Nationalised Banks

  • Several Private Banks

The uploaded loan account data is being used to identify eligible farmers and prepare beneficiary lists in a phased manner.

Around 7.5 Lakh Farmers Being Verified

The Cooperative Department has also started preparing the beneficiary list for nearly 7.5 lakh farmers associated with District Central Cooperative Banks.

This data will be sent to the Income Tax Department for further verification. After computer-based reconciliation with records from various departments, the final beneficiary lists will be prepared to ensure that only eligible farmers receive the benefits.

Farmers Not Eligible for the Scheme

The Maharashtra government has clearly identified categories of applicants who will not receive the benefits of the loan waiver scheme. These include:

  • Current and former public representatives

  • Officials of urban and rural local self-government institutions

  • Government and semi-government officers and employees

  • Individuals who pay income tax on income other than agricultural income

These categories have been excluded to ensure that the scheme benefits only eligible farmers.

Where Farmers Can Check the Beneficiary List

The government has made multiple arrangements so farmers can easily check whether their names are included in the beneficiary list.

The list will be available:

  • Online through the official system

  • At Gram Panchayats

  • Executive Cooperative Institutions

  • Concerned Bank Branches

In addition, every eligible farmer will receive a unique ID. Farmers can also complete related formalities through nearly 32,000 Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras operating across Maharashtra.

First Phase Target Set for July 31, 2026

The Maharashtra government has set a target of July 31, 2026, to complete the process for all eligible farmers associated with District Central Cooperative Banks.

After this phase is completed, the government will begin extending the loan waiver benefits to eligible farmers who have loans with Nationalised Banks and Private Banks. The scheme will continue in phases so that all eligible farmers receive relief from their outstanding agricultural loans.
