Chhattisgarh is preparing to begin paddy procurement for the 2026-27 Kharif marketing year from November 15, 2026. The state government has fixed the procurement rate at ₹3,100 per quintal, offering support to farmers selling their produce at government procurement centres.
The government aims to purchase paddy from more than 27.50 lakh registered farmers this season. Farmers will be allowed to sell up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre at the support price. To manage the large-scale procurement process, the state has established 3,100 procurement centres, including 360 newly opened centres.
The government is also introducing digital systems, including Agristack IDs, biometric verification and online token booking, to make procurement more transparent, reduce waiting times and prevent irregularities. Meanwhile, the central government has set a target of procuring 7.3 million metric tonnes of rice from Chhattisgarh for the central pool during the 2026-27 Kharif marketing year.
Agristack ID to Simplify Farmer Registration
The government is using digital technology to make paddy procurement easier for farmers. Those who registered during the previous year and already have an Agristack ID will not need to complete the registration process again.
According to the announced arrangements, Agristack-registered farmers will also not need to submit a separate loan book to the procurement committee to sell their paddy.
The acreage under paddy cultivation will be verified through digital crop surveys. This will help authorities determine the cultivated area eligible for procurement and reduce the chances of irregular sales.
Biometric verification will be carried out at procurement centres to confirm farmers' identities. The system is intended to ensure that genuine farmers receive the benefits of government procurement while helping prevent fraudulent transactions.
Farmers Can Book Paddy Procurement Tokens Through the Tunhar Token App
To reduce the need for repeated visits to procurement centres, the government will provide an online token facility through the Tunhar Token mobile app.
Farmers will be able to register on the app using an OTP and book tokens online. The facility will be available 24 hours a day, allowing farmers to check token availability and plan their visits according to their convenience.
The distribution of tokens will follow the daily procurement capacity of each committee. Of the total tokens issued, 70% will be made available through the mobile app, while the remaining 30% will be issued at the procurement committee level.
The government has also set aside a larger share of app-based tokens for small and marginal farmers. Under this arrangement, 80% of tokens issued through the app will be reserved for small and marginal farmers, while the remaining 20% will be allocated to large farmers.
This system is expected to make token booking more convenient and help farmers manage their time during the procurement season.
Number of Tokens Will Depend on Agricultural Land
The number of tokens available to each farmer will depend on the area of agricultural land.
The announced token allocation is as follows:
Up to 2 acres: One token.
More than 2 acres and up to 10 acres: Two tokens.
More than 10 acres: Three tokens.
While booking a token, farmers will be able to check the available procurement dates and the daily purchasing limit of their respective procurement committee. This will help them plan when to bring their produce for sale.
273 Check Posts to Monitor Illegal Paddy Transportation
The state government is strengthening monitoring arrangements to prevent the illegal transportation of paddy from other states and reduce irregularities during procurement.
As part of these preparations, authorities have identified 273 check posts and 131 border procurement centres. Special investigation teams will also be formed at the district level to monitor suspicious activities and take action where required.
The government has established specific timelines for resolving complaints, depending on the sensitivity of the procurement centre.
Complaints related to highly sensitive centres are proposed to be resolved within 24 hours. Those concerning sensitive centres will have a 48-hour resolution target, while complaints involving normal centres are to be addressed within 72 hours.
These measures are intended to strengthen supervision, improve accountability and ensure that paddy procurement benefits eligible farmers.
QR Codes on Rice Bags to Improve Tracking and Transparency
The government is also introducing a QR code-based scanning and traceability system to monitor rice transportation and storage after procurement.
Under this system, each rice bag will carry a QR code that can be scanned to track its movement. This will help authorities monitor the transportation and storage process and curb irregularities, including the recycling of rice stocks.
In addition, instructions have been issued to use vehicles equipped with location-tracking devices for paddy procurement and transportation. Procurement centres will also receive new and used jute bags according to their requirements.
These steps are designed to improve tracking from procurement to transportation and storage, while reducing the possibility of diversion and other irregularities.
Chhattisgarh Paddy Procurement 2026: What Farmers Should Know
Farmers planning to sell paddy during the 2026-27 Kharif marketing season should check their registration details, Agristack ID status and the availability of procurement tokens before visiting their designated centre.
Those who registered last year and have an Agristack ID will not need to register again under the announced arrangements. Farmers can use the Tunhar Token app to book appointments online, subject to the daily purchasing capacity and token availability at their respective committees.
With a procurement rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, a maximum sale limit of 21 quintals per acre and a network of 3,100 centres, the state aims to manage procurement on a large scale. Digital verification, border monitoring and QR code-based tracking are expected to strengthen transparency throughout the process.
