LeafyBus Launches India's First 360 KW Fast-Charging Infrastructure for Electric Buses

Key Highlights:

  • LeafyBus launched India’s first 360 KW fast-charging system, enabling 900 km of travel on Delhi-Dehradun route daily.
  • The system reduces charging time to under 50 minutes per session.
  • The fleet features safety features like CCTV, real-time tracking, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
  • LeafyBus partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles for 200 buses and secured financing from AMU for 10 buses.
  • This development supports India’s electric vehicle growth and could serve as a model for long-distance electric buses.

LeafyBus, an electric bus operator based in New Delhi, has introduced India's first 360 KW fast-charging infrastructure, enabling its buses to cover 900 kilometers daily across three round trips between Delhi and Dehradun.

This charging system, developed with GLIDA India (formerly Fortum Charge & Drive India), reduces charging time to under 50 minutes per session, addressing a key challenge in electric mobility.

Collaborations and Fleet Expansion

To expand operations, LeafyBus has partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles to acquire 200 electric buses. Additionally, the company has secured financing from AMU, a Non-Banking Financial Company, to fund its initial fleet of 10 buses for intercity routes.

Enhanced Safety and Comfort Features

LeafyBus has equipped its fleet with advanced safety features such as CCTV surveillance, real-time tracking, Driver Monitoring Systems, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Passengers also benefit from air-conditioned travel with a focus on security and punctuality.

Industry Perspective

Rohan Dewan, Co-Founder and CEO of LeafyBus, stated, "The 360 KW fast charger has addressed the charging time challenge in electric mobility. Our Delhi-Dehradun route demonstrates the viability of electric vehicles in intercity transport."
