The Kisan Helpline Centre, launched on June 7, 2026, in West Tripura, provides structured support and grievance redressal for farmers in Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya, improving accountability and access to expert advice.

Tripura Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the Kisan Helpline Centre. The KHC builds on the earlier Kisan Call Centre (KCC), which the Union government introduced in 2004. The KCC was designed to give farmers timely access to agricultural information and expert advice. The new KHC improves upon this by introducing a formal grievance escalation process and enhanced accountability.
Unlike the earlier advisory-focused KCC, the KHC now features a clear escalation system. Complaints move from the KHC Supervisor to the Section Officer and then to the Grievance Officer. After each case is resolved, the centre collects feedback from the farmer. This process ensures that every complaint is addressed and tracked.
The KHC uses a built-in analytics system to monitor every call. It records the call ID, duration, status, and timestamp. This system prevents complaints from being ignored or lost. Farmers can expect their issues to be handled transparently and efficiently.
The new Kisan Helpline Centre represents a significant improvement in agricultural support for the Northeast. Farmers in Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya now have access to expert advice and a robust grievance redressal mechanism. The centre aims to make agricultural assistance more accessible and reliable for the region's farmers.
This launch is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural services in India. The government continues to introduce policies and schemes to help farmers make informed decisions. These initiatives include machinery subsidies, updated support systems, and new helplines.
Farmers with small holdings, orchards, or limited acreage often face unique challenges. They may not require large machinery or high-powered tractors. The government and related organizations provide information to help these farmers choose suitable equipment and financial options, such as loans or cash payments. Understanding machinery depreciation and financing options can help farmers manage their resources more effectively.
By improving support services and offering targeted advice, the government aims to address the specific needs of farmers in the Northeast and across India. The Kisan Helpline Centre is a step towards more responsive and accountable agricultural assistance.
