In a bid to address transportation needs and improve connectivity in rural regions, Karnataka's Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy has unveiled plans to boost bus services. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of new buses for the North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), Reddy emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing transport infrastructure across the state.

Commitment to Rural Connectivity: Minister Reddy's Announcement

During the event held at the Central Bus Stand, Minister Reddy highlighted the imminent allocation of additional buses to rural areas within the next three months. This strategic move aims to cater to the rising demand for public transportation in remote regions.

Strengthening Transport Networks: Key Initiatives

Addressing the audience, Minister Reddy assured the public of the government's proactive measures to reinforce the transport sector. He underscored the importance of resolving transport challenges prevalent in rural communities, affirming the government's dedication to strengthening the transport department.

Compensation for Deceased Personnel: A Gesture of Support

Minister Reddy also announced a significant compensation package of Rs 50 lakh for the families of bus drivers and conductors who tragically lost their lives in accidents. Additionally, he disclosed plans to propose an increase in compensation to Rs 1 crore, pending government approval.

Reflecting on the success of various welfare schemes, including the Shakti Yojana providing free travel for women and students, Minister Reddy expressed satisfaction with their impact. He reiterated the government's commitment to expanding such initiatives to benefit rural communities.

Commitment to Employment and Infrastructure Development

Laxmi Hebbalakar, Minister of Women and Child Development, outlined the government's efforts in allocating buses to districts like Belagavi. She also highlighted plans to procure 1,000 additional buses and fill 2,000 job vacancies within the transport sector.

NWKRTC Chairman's Perspective: Focus on Passenger Comfort

NWKRTC Chairman Bharamagauda (Raju) Kage emphasized the significant daily passenger traffic, with a substantial proportion being women. He pledged to address the lack of adequate bus facilities for students in rural areas and improve amenities such as clean drinking water at bus stands.

With these initiatives and commitments, Karnataka's transport ministry aims to enhance rural mobility, alleviate transport challenges, and ensure equitable access to public transportation services across the state.
