JBM’s electric bus fleet crosses 3,000 units across India.
103 new electric buses inaugurated in Delhi, fleet nears 1,000.
100-bus agreement was signed with Gandhinagar under PM e-Bus Sewa.
Gujarat fleet to reach around 500 buses after full deployment.
Over 300 million km covered and 1 billion passengers served.
India’s electric mobility push has received a major boost as JBM Ecolife Pvt. Ltd. expanded its electric bus operations in Delhi and Gandhinagar. With the latest deployments and agreements, the company’s total operational fleet has now crossed 3,000 electric buses across India.
The expansion strengthens JBM’s presence in key cities and highlights its growing role in sustainable public transport under government-backed initiatives.
In a significant development, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 103 nine-metre low-floor air-conditioned electric buses on Tuesday. These buses have now been inducted into the capital’s public transport system.
With this addition, JBM’s electric bus fleet in Delhi has reached nearly 1,000 units, further supporting the city’s clean mobility goals. The new buses aim to offer comfortable, eco-friendly travel to daily commuters while reducing urban pollution.
In Gujarat, JBM Ecolife signed a fresh agreement with the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme of the central government.
As per the agreement, JBM will supply 100 electric buses to the city. The first phase will include 40 buses, which are scheduled for delivery by the end of the 2025–26 financial year.
Once fully deployed, this move is expected to increase JBM’s operational fleet in Gujarat to around 500 electric buses.
The electric buses being supplied to Gandhinagar are designed for modern urban transport needs. These fully air-conditioned 25-seater buses will come equipped with:
CCTV cameras
Automatic doors
Accessibility features for senior citizens
Special facilities for differently-abled passengers
To support smooth operations, a dedicated depot and charging infrastructure is also being developed in the city.
JBM’s electric buses have shown strong performance over the past five years. According to company data:
The buses have covered over 300 million kilometres
Transported more than one billion passengers
Helped save over one billion kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions
These numbers reflect the growing acceptance of electric buses in India’s public transport network and their positive environmental impact.
The buses are manufactured at JBM’s production facility, which the company describes as one of the largest electric bus manufacturing plants globally outside China.
The plant has an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses, enabling the company to meet rising demand from cities across India.
JBM Ecolife Pvt. Ltd. operates as a part of JBM Auto Ltd., a key player in India’s automotive manufacturing sector. Through its electric mobility solutions, the company continues to expand its footprint in sustainable transportation.
With fresh deployments in Delhi and a major agreement in Gandhinagar under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, JBM Ecolife has crossed the important milestone of 3,000 electric buses in operation across India. The company’s expanding fleet, advanced manufacturing capacity, and focus on eco-friendly transport highlight its growing contribution to India’s clean mobility transformation.
